The Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar is an independent reformed Eastern Church. The Church traces its history to a reform movement within the old St. Thomas Church. The impetus for reform came from the work of British Missionaries, in the early years of the 18th century. The reformers affirmed the central place of the bible and encouraged its “open use” in family worship and church services.
It is the edavaka Mission of Salem Mar Thoma Church, established the CCWS in the year 1975. As the parishioners spread to all parts of Kochi, new parishes; Jerusalem, Sharon, and Christos were established and the membership of the Society opened to church members.
